Antique Victorian elbow chair or fireside carver, made in the mid to late 1800s. Elm or similar hardwood seat, scalloped for comfort, with beech lathe back and fat turned legs. Shaped arm rests on turned supports. Condition is fairly good structurally: there's a little flex in the leg joints though not too bad. One back leg has had woodworm but it hasn't affected the strength much, just slightly chipped at the foot. We've treated it just in case. Cosmetically it has various scuffs and dings from age though nothing too terrible; the original dark lacquer has worn away in the high use areas; elsewhere it's a bit mottled but not unpleasantly so. Dimensions: 64cm wide x 61cm x 110cm (seat height 46cm)
